Milwaukee Athletic Club. Congratulations to all our award recipients.

MERIT AWARD

Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion for its educational programs.

COMMENDATION AWARD

The Charles Allis Art Museum for organizing the exhibition, Alexander Eschweiler in Milwaukee: Celebrating a Rich Architectural Heritage, and a related publication.

The March on Milwaukee Committee for its programs to mark the 40th anniversary of Milwaukee’s open housing marches.

RECOGNITION AWARD

Joan Zeiger, for her long service as a volunteer for the Historical Society and the Friends of MCHS.

Victor DiCristo for his graphic design services for many of the Society’s promotional materials and for the book Milwaukee at Mid-Century: The Photographs of Lyle Oberwise.

GAMBRINUS PRIZE

Thomas Jablonsky, Ph.D. for his publication Milwaukee’s Jesuit University: Marquette 1881-1981, as the best book-length contribution to Milwaukee historiography in 2007.

MARION G. OGDEN PRIZE

John D. Buenker, Ph.D. for his article Neoteching Milwaukee:The Cream City’s Emergence as an Industrial Metropolis 1886-1919, as the best contribution to last year’s volume of Milwaukee History Magazine.

FREDERICK I. OLSON PRESERVATION AWARD

Lynde Uihlein and the Brico Fund for restoring the historic James S. Brown Double House as the Fund’s new headquarters.

North Point Lighthouse to recognize the exceptional restoration of this historic site.

COURTLAND R. CONLEE COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Walter Sava, Ph.D. for his contributions to preserving the history and heritage of Milwaukee’s Latino community.

WITNESS TO HISTORY

Reuben K. Harpole and Harry F. Franke for their efforts in preserving the history of the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County.
