This interesting and informative slide presentation showcases approximately fifty historic buildings throughout the City of Milwaukee and its adjacent suburbs which have been designated official Milwaukee County Landmarks since 1976. Representing about half of the total number of landmarks which have been recognized, the slide lecture examines a wide range of building types, including residences, farmsteads, churches, schools, industrial structures, and public facilities. The designs of internationally known architects such as Eeron Saarinen, Frank Lloyd Wright, Alexander Eschweiler, and Ernest Flagg are also represented. All combine to show how Milwaukee County’s built environment proclaims who we are, where we come from, and how we live! (45 minutes)
Milwaukee at Mid-Century
The Photographs of Lyle Oberwise

This selection of especially noteworthy Oberwise photographs includes images of the Milwaukee Road Depot, the State Fair, Maitland Field, the South Shore Water Frolic, Milwaukee’s Centurama celebration and the neon signs which once lit up Wisconsin Avenue.
