Civil War EncampmentFifth Civil War Encampment
Saturday and Sunday October 4 & 5, 2008
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission: $3 for adults; $2 for seniors and students

Our annual Civil War Encampment draws re-enactors from several states who portray life in the Civil War period. Union and Confederate soldiers, sharpshooters, cavalry, medical staff, sutlers, and camp followers will impersonate famous persons, cook their meals, sell their goods, demonstrate equipment and weapons, and fight mock skirmishes featuring Civil War weapons and artillery.

Don’t know what a sutler is? Stop in and learn!

(Okay, we can save you a trip to the dictionary. A sutler or victualer is a civilian who sells provisions to an army in the field, in camp or in quarters. In modern use the term sutler is often used to describe businesses that provide period uniforms and supplies to reenactors, especially to reenactors of the American Civil War. These businesses will often themselves play the part of historical sutlers while selling their goods at reenactments.)

Vintage Baseball Tournament:
Trimborn Farm Vintage BaseballSaturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13, 2008
10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission: Free

All the makings of a classic rivalry are in place! The Milwaukee area now has two Vintage Base Ball teams, the original Milwaukee Cream Citys and the newly formed Milwaukee Grays. Other teams from throughout the Midwest will join them as we host the fourth regional tournament at the Farm. Come and learn a whole new baseball vocabulary. “Strikers” wearing wool uniforms play by the rules of 1860, hit “hammers” past the “scouts” in the “garden” to the cheers of their adoring “cranks,” all under the watchful eye of a “barrister” in top hat and coat tails. Musical entertainment both days at mid-day.
