Milwaukee County Historical Society

Friends of the Milwaukee County Historical Society

The Milwaukee County Historical Society is supported by two organizations whose purpose is to provide additional financial assistance to the Society through additional programming and the donation of volunteer time. Members of the both Friend’s organization are a diverse group, but all share an interest in our local history. Read more about our Friends and join us today.

Friends of MCHS

In addition to getting involved in the Historical Society’s regular programs and events, the MCHS Friends coordinate a full calendar of events all around our community. Many events, feature a behind-the-scenes tour of places and organizations that are not open to the public. Past examples include a tour of Miller Park with Bud Selig, a walking tour of Forest Home Cemetery guided by brewing historian Jim Kupferschmidt, and a visit to the famous four-sided clock at Rockwell.

Each spring the MCHS Friends host a popular dinner and auction event that explores the history of an ethnic group in our community. The Scots were honored at this past event, at a bonnie evening that featured a curling demonstration by the Wauwatosa Curling Club, dancing and piping by the Caledonian Scottish Dancers and a wonderful meal complete with Haggis.

Friends of Trimborn Farm

Formed in 2004, this group of supporters focuses their efforts on Trimborn Farms. While it may no longer be a working farm, there are always things to work on at Trimborn. In addition to providing funds for the upkeep of this valuable historic property, the Friends of Trimborn get involved in tasks ranging from interpretation, gardening, running concessions at events and more.

Trimborn’s varied events from May to October, offer something of interest for everyone. Trimborn Friends help out behind the scenes at Harvest of Arts, the Vintage Base ball Tournament or a Civil War Encampment.
